LOCAL TIMES FOR THE ECLIPSE MARCH 20, 2015

Here you wil find local times and conditions for the great solar eclipse on March 20, 2015 for several locations in Norway, Svalbard and the North Pole.

A total solar eclipse! The impressive and beautiful solar corona is shining with a strange color surrounding the black Moon.

Explanations:
All times are given in Norwegian standard time (UT + 1 hour). First contact is when the Moon touches the solar disk and the partial phase begins. At the time of maximum phase the Moon covers as much of the Sun as I will do during this eclipse. Last contact is when the lunar disk leaves the solar disk. The size of the eclipse can be given in two different ways: The fraction of the solar diameter covered by the Moon and the fraction of the solar disk that is covered by the Moon. ”Diameter at max” gives the percentage of the diameter that is covered and ”Area at max” gives the percentage of the area of the solar disk that is eclipsed. The solar altitude is given for max phase.

The angular direction of the Sun at this eclipse differs slightly across Norway. In Southern Norway and central Norway (Trøndelag) the direction under maximum phase is SSE (in the Southwest more to the SE), in Finnmark the Sun will be almost due South and on Svalbard and on the North Pole to the SSE.
Data er computed using NASAs web site for solar eclipses.
